Stainless Steel Sinks and Faucets

Stainless Steel Sinks are Built to Last. (And look good while doing it.)

Stainless steel sinks are a beautiful, durable and cost-effective choice when remodeling a kitchen. Because of the way they are constructed, they can be found in an unlimited number of shapes, sizes and configurations. From small single-bowl models for prep stations, to large three-bowl models that give you lots of space for food preparation and cleanup.

Stainless steel sinks are manufactured by stamping the sink shape into a large sheet of treated steel. The starting thickness of that sheet will determine the strength of the final product. While quality-grade stainless steel sinks are available in a range of thicknesses, we recommend 18-guage or the thicker 16-gauge sinks.

Not All Stainless Steel is Equal

In addition to the thickness or “Gauge” of the metal, also pay attention to the grade or “Type” of stainless steel used to create the sink you’re considering. We recommend Type 304 Stainless Steel. Some companies advertising “free sinks with the purchase of countertops” often use the cheaper, Type 204 Stainless Steel Sinks. This is an inferior grade of metal and may not hold its beauty as long as they higher quality 304.

Benefits of Stainless Steel Sinks:

  • Durable – Porcelain and cast iron can’t stand up to steel.
  • Luster – Won’t rust or stain; the finish is scratch-resistant.
  • Absorbs Shock – Cushions dishes against breakage
  • Cleans Easily – Simply use a household disinfectant.
  • Greater Capacity – Deeper sink bowls, more usable space
